Guardian: Good or Evil?

This is something that I’ve been asked more times than I can count when I talk about my guardian. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I felt comfortable enough to openly discuss the relationship that I have with my spirit guide. I’ve often been asked, “How do you know if it’s really your spirit guide or something malevolent pretending to be good in order to mislead you?”

Every time I’m asked that this is what I say, “I’m an empath. I can very easily pick up on energies, both good and evil. My ability never lies.” I can also communicate with the Angelic Realm. My angel radio is always on. I wrote an article a little over a year ago about this titled, “Hearing Angels”.

How I know that my guardian/ spirit guide is good is because her presence is always warm, loving and full of positive energy. She’s extremely comforting to me. Her ethereal light doesn’t have to be seen in order for me to know that she shines. It is felt and radiates deep from within.

I was once told by someone attending one of my public speaking events that I shouldn’t openly talk about being able to communicate with the angels. When I asked the gentleman why, he replied, “Cuz people will think you’re crazy.” And actually, that was what kept me quiet about the subject for a long time… the fear of what others thought. But after a while, I got the courage to put that fear behind me and be strong. I am happy to talk about angelic communication and if someone thinks I’m crazy, then that’s on them… not me. I’m happy with who I am. I am proud of my gift and I refuse to hide it. I embrace this beautiful ability and I am here as a lightworker to help spread the messages that the angels want me to convey. 🙂

That is why I know my guardian is purely of love and light. There is absolutely nothing “evil” or “malevolent” about her. Anything evil, even when pretending to be good, cannot be felt purely of love and light. Evil is cold and dark no matter how hard they may try to mask it, I can easily feel the difference.

Years ago when I openly embraced the relationship with my spirit guide, I asked her her name. She warmly answered, “Mary.” And every time I talk about this, it gives me goosebumps, but in a good way, like I can feel her positive vibes even stronger. Now to be honest, communicating with the Angelic Realm did make me question myself in the past, simply because I was more reserved about it. Why? Because I was so full of questions.

In November, I attended The Paranormal Diaries Film: EVENT in Sauk Centre, Minnesota at The Palmer House Hotel. At the event one of the guest speakers was Healer and Intuitive, Suzanne Worthley. She was talking about angels. After her presentation, I spoke with her privately for a moment and without me even mentioning to her about my communicating with the angels, Suzanne said to me with a smile, “You work a lot with angel energies. A lot with Mary’s energy.” And when she said that, I immediately was in a state of awe because Suzanne and I had never met before and she had absolutely no idea who I was. But being a healer and intuitive, Suzanne was able to “know” about my relationship with my spirit guide and the other angels. It automatically brought me to tears because Suzanne helped validate what I had already known. With our conversation, she confirmed it for me, making me feel even more empowered with a higher sense of understanding.

So, with all that being said…. Is how I know that my guardian/ spirit guide is definitely good and not evil. Remember, evil cannot be purely of love and light regardless of how hard they may try to manipulate. Always trust your instinct. Your instinct will never lie to you.

Phasmophobia: A Ghostly Fear

Do you have a fear of ghosts, anything ghoulish that goes bump in the night and causes fright? Well, if you do, then don’t worry because millions of others do, too. It’s a very common fear known as “phasmophobia”. The word “phasmos” derives from the Greek language referring to “phantom” or “supernatural being”. It’s also known as “spectrophobia”. “Spectrum” is Latin referring to a specter, or an image of a thing, or an apparition.

Symptoms of phasmobia can typically be found in most disorders that lead to anxiety. A sufferer can go through feelings of dread, rapid heartbeat, panic attacks, also nausea and severe vomiting. It’s even been reported that a person suffering from phasmosphobia can develop OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) in order to conduct rituals to negate any kind of ghostly presence.

However, one can find treatment for such a fear. Self help methods can be extremely successful by reaching out to someone to openly talk about it to help eradicate the phobia by facing it. Another way is to contact professional help so that the phobia of ghosts can be removed. I always suggest to anyone who believes they’re experiencing any kind of ghostly activity to contact their local paranormal investigative team. It’s been from my own experiences that I’ve found these teams are compiled of members who are intelligent, non-judgmental and extremely open-minded, and are very willing to help to the best of their ability. Many of my friends are paranormal investigators and I always feel comfortable and at ease when working with them.

Also, the relaxation method of meditation (which I highly recommend) can help calm one’s inner turmoil, creating more focus, therefore a sense of confidence to bring forth a well-balanced mental state of mind. And…. having a close relationship with one’s spirit guide is something else I recommend. I work very closely with mine and by doing so, I have absolutely no fear.

There’s even a “specific phobia” involving a ghastly fear of mirrors. This macabre phobia is referred to as “catoptrophobia” which derives from the Greek language for the word “mirror”. Now I mentioned “specific phobia”, which simply refers to any type of anxiety disorder that signifies an illogical fear of the exposure of a specific item and/or situation which can eventually lead to the distressed individual avoiding all contact with the item and/or situation. The fear can actually be so paralyzing to the individual’s mental state that it literally disrupts their life.

Here are a few more phobias that I found to be rather interesting.

Achluphobia: which is the fear of darkness.

Eisoptrophobia: which is the fear of one’s own reflection.

Samhainphobia: which is the fear of Halloween.

And…. Wiccaphobia: which is the fear of witches and/or witchcraft.

The last phobia I had to include. Why? Because of my own personal beliefs and spiritual journey. I am Wiccan, a solitary one who practices the use of white magic, and there’s definitely no reason to fear anything I do. I only believe in promoting love and light. I am well aware of those who practice dark magic, and I also stay away from them. But that doesn’t mean that I fear them.

It’s easy to fear that which one doesn’t understand. It takes strength, courage and faith to overcome adversity.

“…I am perfectly aware that the fear of ghosts is contrary to science, reason and religion. If I were sentenced to spend a night alone in a graveyard, … I should already know that twigs would snap and the wind moan and that there would be half-seen movements in the darkness. And yet, after I had been frog-marched into the graveyard, I should feel a thrill of fear every time one of these things happened…” ~  Philosopher, Peter van Inwagen

Teetering on the Parallels of Darkness & Light

“There should be no fear of darkness when the presence of light exists.”

~ Sheila Renee Parker ~

The battle between Light vs. Dark, Good vs. Evil is something that has plagued mankind throughout the millennia. Yin and Yang, Angels and Demons…. however one prefers to term it, each one of us faces what is right and what is wrong on a daily basis.

Does that mean that we “sin”? I believe that the interpretation of the word “sin” depends on the individual and their beliefs. Does that mean that I believe it’s okay for an individual to go out and cause havoc and harm if they believe that it’s okay? Definitely not! A rational mind should always know what is right from wrong. As I’ve said in a previous post titled, “Embrace the Dark, but live the Light”, I believe in “An it harm none, do what ye will.”

So quick are people to place judgement upon others and call them “sinners” simply because of different morals and lifestyles. We are all different! Why is that so hard for so many to accept this simple fact? Often, when someone bravely decides to go on their own and not be a part of the “cookie cutter society” anymore, the person quickly becomes ostracized because they choose to embrace their individualism. Why is that? Does that mean that they’re bad people? Of course not! We are all unique!

There is good in everyone. However, some people do choose to embrace it more than others. Here is a verse from a book that I don’t necessarily follow, but I am extremely familiar with. It certainly speaks volumes. “He who is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” John 8:7

Often times, there is a fine line between the Dark and the Light that we may delicately find ourselves teetering on. And it’s okay to be aware of this. We just have to maintain the strength to always do what is right. Have faith and accept that there can be a beautiful balance between the two. So many times we beat ourselves up for faltering, and we shouldn’t do this. We are our own worst critics. This is something I’m far too familiar with, never giving myself enough credit, all in fear of exhibiting ego. But then again, many of us are guilty of this…. not giving ourselves enough credit where credit is due.

So, with all that being said… and that was a mouthful! LOL

“Live the Light, love the Dark and embrace everything in between.”

Keep the faith! And always remember…. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!

“Embrace the Dark, but live the Light.”

“I love the Light as much as I love the Dark. It’s such a beautiful balance.”

~ Sheila Renee Parker

I openly embrace both, the Light and the Dark, and that’s with life in general. The reason for this, I truly believe, is that by doing so it helps me to better understand things, to open my perspective of my surroundings. To have one without the other is irrational. The balance becomes heavily outweighed. There can’t be Light without Dark, nor Dark without Light.

Now, that doesn’t mean that I condone violence or hatred of any kind. Absolutely not! I live by the Rede, “An it harm none, do what ye will.” And I am a huge believer in Karma. But what I am referring to when I say that I embrace the Dark as much as I do the Light, is that we all have our moments. We’re not always going to have the perfect life. However, I do believe that life is what we make it. We’re occasionally all going to have that “off-beat” moment when we may feel like “blah”, and that’s perfectly o.k. Life’s not always going to be peachy keen and we need to accept those “Dark” times. Embrace them for they are the moments that help us to become stronger and appreciate the “Light” moments all the more. Even the darkest of moments can’t survive when the tiniest of light exists. There is a radiant spark within us all. Let it light the way to empowerment!

Be proud of who you are and love the individual you’ve become. You are worthy of what you deserve. We all harness the power to achieve greatness. Dream. Believe. Achieve!

Love & Light! ~ Sheila

My First Paranormal Experience

I was a small child, just barely school age when I had my first experience with the paranormal. I’ve never spoken publicly about it until now, not even at my public speaking events nor book signings have I ever brought up the incident of which I’m about to tell you. Yes, I’ve openly discussed my encounters with shadow people, being touched by spirits, my ability of being an empath and also my ability of angelic communication, but never openly discussed my first recollection of a paranormal encounter. Why? Because to many people, it may sound a bit macabre and strange.

Like I said earlier, I was a small child when it happened. A little girl all dressed up in Sunday clothes right after church services were over. The day was sunny and warm, and the church members were carrying on lighthearted conversations as they were walking out of the building. As my family conversed, my attention was oddly drawn towards the cemetery for no apparent reason, which was only a few feet away. This church was a small, country one with not a very big congregation at all. So the atmosphere was safe and there was no cause for concern as I walked towards the graves. The ground had been undisturbed for quite sometime, meaning that there had been no recent funerals to speak about. Yet, I was undeniably drawn to a particular grave for which I had no connection with. The deceased wasn’t a family member, nor a friend. In fact, the individual had been dead for many years prior to our joining the church. But as I neared the grave, I began to detect a very faint smell. It was one that I had never experienced before, quite fragrant and soft. The inviting smell drew me even closer to the peaceful plot.

Now keep in mind that no one followed me and that everyone from the church were several feet away, meaning that the scent from their perfume/cologne dissipated as I walked away from them. However, this new scent grew stronger as I approached the grave. It was so beautiful and intriguing that it made me want to investigate its origin. The headstone was void of any floral arrangements that would give plausible cause for the unexplained smell. So, I continued to let my nose lead the way which made me only inches above the ground. At this point, I was literally sniffing the Earth that was immediately below my nose. Only grass separated me from the dirt. Yet, this inconceivable fragrance had become even stronger. In my innocent mind I started seeing brief images of bones, like I was looking down into the grave below. Was I led to this spot by the deceased individual? Perhaps what I was smelling was the beautiful fragrance they wore when they were alive. Maybe the spirit of the deceased noticed my gift and wanted to connect with me.

I wanted so badly to take my little fingers and dig into the dirt so I could find out more, but was abruptly stopped upon my grandmother’s discovery. And ever since then, every time I see bones, I’m quickly reminded of the beautiful fragrance I’ve never experienced again. The incident still remains a mystery to me, a fascination that I will never forget.

Intelligent & Residual Hauntings: What Are They?

(Originally published on August 3, 2014)

Ok, everyone’s heard of Casper the Friendly Ghost, right? You know, the cute transparent guy who floats around through walls? If all the hauntings were as adorable as him, then that would be pretty amazing and all the little kiddies wouldn’t be so afraid of the things that go bump in the night.

Well, let’s take a step back and face reality here. Some hauntings can be pretty frightening and down right mind-numbing. Did you know that there are actually two known types of hauntings? Yes, intelligent and residual…

An intelligent haunting is when the spirits can interact with the living, a type of energy that DOES have consciousness. These spirits may find ways of communication much like the ways discussed in my previous blog titled, The Afterlife ~ A Corporeal’s Transition, or the spirits can often communicate through the use of a voice box; a tool that is used to collect electronic voice phenomena (EVPs). Spirits of intelligent hauntings are known to interact with the living by attempting physical contact as well. For instance, spirits can be playful in nature and a person may feel their hair being pulled or a gentle touch when no one else is to blame for the action. However, other spirits of intelligent hauntings may not be as friendly and the living can experience a sense of malevolence and often these types of spirits are more negative with their contact and might even try to inflict harm upon the living. Many people do try to provoke this type of haunting and I strongly recommend using extreme caution because one never knows what can happen. So, be wise and be careful.

The second type of haunting is known as a residual haunting. It’s more like a supernatural experience that resembles a recording of past energy. For instance, like hearing footsteps walking down an empty hallway when no one is there. It’s believed that in a location where someone has released a large amount of energy or heightened emotions were experienced and the energy attaches or “imprints” itself. As a result of the abiding energy, individuals in the future may get to experience seeing a type of “recording” of these events. Some signs of a residual haunting may be the absence of interaction from the spirit. As if the spirit doesn’t acknowledge the presence of the living person. The spirit will almost seem totally oblivious to anything that’s occurring in it’s presence.

Another sign of a residual haunting is the energy that is felt can often be quite intense for the individual experiencing it, but this isn’t anything that should be feared. The energy can also be the result of the interruptions to electricity and electrical appliances. It’s also very possible for things in the immediate area to change. For example, doors opening and shutting. Once again, this is simply energy. The spirit is completely not applying any conscious effort to these activities.

Throughout the years, I have experienced both types of hauntings. They were very mild in nature and I never felt threatened. I’ve heard footsteps jaunting down an empty hallway and creaking down an old set of stairs. I’ve seen electrical disturbances when there was no accountable reasoning for anything else. I have even experienced the gentle touches from spirits on several occasions.

So, now you know there are two kinds of hauntings. If you’ve had any experiences, please feel free to comment and share! 🙂

The True You

“As the eyes pierce the vision,
a mere glimpse into the within.

Deeper than any comprehension,
let the awakening begin.”

~ Sheila Renee Parker

More often than not, we as individuals view things aesthetically, looking at the surface of what’s in front of us rather than stepping back and taking a deeper look within. For example, when we wake up in the morning, one of the first things we do when we get ready for the day is look at our appearance in the mirror. The reflection staring back can reflect many things, such as having a restful sleep from the previous night to a worrisome face full of doubt and fear.

How we first see ourselves in the mirror can cause us to quickly place judgment on the individuals that we’ve become. But that is exactly what we should NOT do. Instead, we should take a couple of steps back away from the mirror before us and take a good, long look at who we are….. on the inside.

Regardless of how we appear…. short, tall… thin, not so thin…. mature in age or younger in years… we need to take a much deeper look within us and realize how unique we all are. Each and every single one of us has something special to share, so fantastic that it can make us truly shine. We just have to be able to be awake enough to acknowledge that we all have a magnificent being inside us. One that is so miraculous that it can help us to soar higher than we’ve ever gone before.

There really is an unstoppable force that resides deep within us all. All we have to do is be willing to accept the drive that can help us to achieve our dreams. And by doing so, we can help others as well. With a positive mindset anything can, and will, happen!

“Look past the skin
where true beauty begins
and you’ll discover the spirit within.”

~ Sheila Renee Parker
