Meet Raleigh Nichols

Have you read my paranormal romance, The Spirit Within? If so, then you’ll know who this rugged mechanic is. Meet Raleigh Nichols, the inimical boyfriend of the main character, Cassy Blakemore.

Who is this irreverent soul?

He’s a hard working mechanic who’s employed full-time at the local body shop. His name is Raleigh Nichols and is crazy in love with his girlfriend, Cassy Blakemore. Sure, he may be a tad overbearing and a bit cynical, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting to please his girl with his sultry, southern charm. The way Raleigh’s sensual touch melts Cassy’s heart, gets her every time. Well, that is until the day Raleigh’s inner darkness emerges. A darkness that becomes so brutal that it creates a terrifying wedge between the two lovers.

Their love is undeniable, but the personal turmoil that Raleigh battles causes him to lose the fight to alcoholism. While his thirst grows deeper for the bottle, his anger becomes intensified as his emotions become explosively abusive towards Cassy. Raleigh’s apologies are hollow and ignored, but that doesn’t end his relentless obsession with his girlfriend.

Before the final straw breaks, Cassy discovers supernatural abilities that she never knew she had. It’s thanks to these newly found powers that keep her world from totally disintegrating.

How does Raleigh deal with Cassy mysteriously “zoning out”? And how does this volatile relationship continue….. or does it? Get your very own copy of my novel, The Spirit Within available on Amazon!

Raleigh, who claims he loves Cassy undeniably, soon finds comfort by delving deeper into the bottle. His insufferable alcoholism takes an unruly turn as he becomes abusive towards Cassy. It’s at this point in her life that she’s faced with her worst fears.

Pendulums

“Swinging back and forth, to and fro, which way will the pendulum go?”

According to Wikipedia’s definition, “a pendulum is a weight suspended from a pivot so that it can swing freely.” From the early 1700s to the early 1900s, pendulums were used for timekeeping and considered to be extremely accurate. But this scientific method is not the reasoning behind me writing this article. No, my reference is in the spiritual sense.

Many people use pendulums for a variety of reasons such as a form of communication with spirit guides and/or spirits in general. Others may use pendulums to access wisdom from a higher self or to even perhaps gain forgotten knowledge from the subconscious mind. The reasoning for each individual’s use is as unique as the person using it. And the practice in which they perform may vary as well.

Like me for instance, I actually have a pendulum. Several years ago I put one together with extreme simplicity. (And yes, it’s ok to make your own pendulum. Manufactured ones work just as well, but my preference was to make my own. I believe that spirituality is quite beautiful and personal, so creating my pendulum made it all the more sentimental.)

Again, simple materials… actually, I only purchased a couple of things. One was a small rope-like thick string (a pretty, light green color) and the second item I got was a crescent shaped, aurora borealis pendant to use as the weight. I strung the string through a premade hole in the pendant and voila, my pendulum was made. Of course, I cleansed it with the practice of incense prior to use. I am extremely cautious with what I do and I never do anything that promotes negativity. I believe in practicing with white light protection and the assistance from spirit guides.

Below is an image of my quaint, yet very special pendulum.

A Ghostly Perspective

This next post was inspired by a film that I’ve recently watched titled, The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia. The film is based on a true story and here is its description: “A historic Southern home’s new residents come face to face with a malevolent force.”

While watching, that was when it dawned on me that I was already familiar with the people portrayed in the film. I had seen them on other paranormal shows talking about their story and discussing the daughter’s ability of clairvoyance and communicating with the dead.

After I finished watching the film, it got me to thinking about ghosts and why some of them seem to be so malevolent. Perhaps their spirit isn’t actually malevolent at all. Maybe they just seem that way because they are trying to convey a message to the living. And after countless failed attempts of communication with the living, the ghosts become enraged because they have something to say but have no way of reaching the other side.

I know it may sound crazy, even far-fetched, but it made me think. So, by the time these ghosts finally find someone with whom they are able to communicate, they’re ready to unleash all their built-up emotions. And with the rush of feeling (and the fact that they’re dead) it’s easy to understand why the living can get so terrified by a paranormal encounter.

It makes total sense to me. Put yourself in their position. One day you’re walking down the street and all is well, then unfortunately something tragically out of the blue happens and you’re no longer part of the living. You’re now on the other side. You’re terrified, freaking out and you have no one to turn to. You try so hard to communicate with the living, but nothing – nadda. You try and try until one day your persistence finally becomes successful when you’re able to communicate with someone. But by this time, when you’re able to speak to a clairvoyant or whomever, you’ve got all this rush of excitement and that’s what scares the living because it becomes too overwhelming for them to handle.

Now this isn’t me in any way, shape or form, discarding all malevolent entities as non-malevolent. Extreme caution should always be utilized when investigating the paranormal because there are evil creatures/beings on the other side. So, be careful!

But the film did make me think and I wanted to share……

Deja Vu

Deja vu is a French term meaning “already seen”. It basically describes the feeling one gets when they’re experiencing a current situation even though they know that it has never happened before. Why do so many people claim to experience such phenomenon? Who knows. Perhaps it’s a form of premonition or maybe even something due to reincarnation…. the mere possibility that the individual had been in that exact same situation in a previous life and being there in this life could have triggered some sort of “past-life” memory. As perplexing as it sounds, there may be some basis to that theory, but then again, that’s subject to one’s interpretation.

Like many others, I’ve had deja vu moments. I remember when I was a teenager, I was out with some friends and it was close to Halloween. We were going to a haunted Halloween trail. When we arrived at the location, I was in a state of awe, like wow! I didn’t say anything to my friends because I didn’t want to embarrass myself, but the familiar feeling of being there before was extremely intense. Weird thing was, that this location was in another county that I had never visited. But prior to arrival, I already knew what the main building looked like and the layout of the Halloween attraction’s trail. Spooky, right?! I thought so too at the time. Maybe that was the result of a premonition?

Another deja vu moment that I’ve experienced happened just last summer when my son and I visited an old hospital that had been beautifully restored and turned into a museum. As we toured this historic location, we walked through each room taking in the sights. So many things on display, it was astonishing! The whole time we were there, I kept getting this extreme feeling that I had been there before, but I knew for a fact that we had never been to that historical site. And there was no way possible that I was ever a patient there because the hospital closed down before I was even born. The connection that I felt to that place was absolutely undeniable!

Have you ever experienced deja vu? If so, please share!!

Dreams… or Premonitions?

Dreams come in many forms. For some people, dreams occur like random flashes of broken images while other individuals may experience visuals that are in-depth with extreme detail. Many people dream in various shades of black and white, and others dream in vivid colors. Dreams are as unique as the individual who has them. There are even people who claim they don’t dream at all. Some dreams can have such an effect on us that they may linger on our minds for days. However, some can become easily forgotten within minutes upon us waking.

And yet, there are those of us who have dreams that are more than mere fantasy. I’m speaking in regards to premonitions like the ones that I have. When I get premonitions, they happen like reoccurring dreams. Often, I will have them over a matter of weeks and more extreme ones have happened over a matter of a few years. For me, these reoccurring dreams (or premonitions as I like to call them) don’t cease until they actually happen in real life. Occasionally, I will get a premonition only once just prior to it becoming real.

Do I consider myself a seer? Absolutely not. I’ve never experienced visions like those reported by Michel de Nostredame, Edgar Cayce or even Sylvia Brown. I don’t even have visions on a regular basis. They’re not something that I can easily pull out of thin air either.

Some of the earliest premonitions that I can recall happened back when I was a little girl in elementary school. The visions weren’t anything epic, but nonetheless, they were still something to me. I could “see” events happening in advance and other similar things. Like I stated earlier, my premonitions occur during dreams. I, like everyone else, have ordinary dreams that aren’t premonitions. It’s easy for me to tell them apart. All my dreams and premonitions come to me very vividly and realistically. However, with my premonitions I get a feeling that’s kind of hard to explain. The best way for me to describe it would be to say that when I get a premonition dream, the vision is accompanied by an intense sense of “knowing”.

When I was a kid I wouldn’t speak about my visions, but as I got older, I would randomly say little things to my friends and they would be like, “how did you know?”. I would simply shrug my shoulders and laugh it off, being very nonchalant about it. Do I take my premonitions lightly? Of course not, but I don’t shy away from them either. I welcome them and always listen to my intuition.
